Academic membership

This category of membership is open to individuals who hold at least a 70% position with an academic institution or otherwise mostly pursue an academic activity, being employed or engaged in full or part-time study in any accredited university or educational institution based anywhere in the world.

ECGI is a global interdisciplinary academic network. It includes students, early career academics and established scholars, all with varied focus on ECGI scope topics. Academic Membership

€125 per annum*

  • PhD candidates and Masters students may apply for a 50% discount.
  • Applicants residing in low or middle income countries may apply for a 50% discount.

Academic membership includes the same benefits as Practitioner membership at a discounted rate to encourage students and early stage scholars to benefit from our network. This is particularly beneficial to co-authors on ECGI working papers, who then have a clickable profile on their working paper record.

How can I apply to become a member?

You can apply directly here using our easy application form. If you would like more information about the categories of membership and associated benefits, you can visit our becoming a member page.

Do I need to be nominated to become a member?

No. It is possible to apply for each category without being nominated. However, there is a difference between academic membership and research membership. You can sign up for academic membership today, but applications for research membership are only received every two years. Learn more about the differences in membership categories here.

How can I reinstate my lapsed membership?

We are happy to help you to reactivate your membership. Please send a request by email to membership@ecgi.org.
