The event brings together cutting-edge research in the field of corporate governance, with a particular focus on the corporate constitution and the boundaries of private ordering in joint stock company law. Featuring leading scholars from different jurisdictions, the event adopts a comparative lens to examine the mandatory nature of corporate law and its interaction with private regulatory mechanisms. Particular attention will be paid to the role and enforceability of articles of association, the distinction between internal and outsider rights, and the interface between statutory mandates and contractual autonomy in corporate governance.
Structured as a high-level academic-practitioner forum, the event aims to foster rigorous cross-jurisdictional dialogue and critical analysis. It will feature two sessions addressing both foundational questions and contemporary developments in corporate law, with contributions from leading scholars.
The symposium also marks the launch of the Istanbul Corporate Law Series (ICLS) — a new annual platform for thought leadership in comparative corporate law. The key insights from the 2025 symposium will be captured in the inaugural ICLS Report, published as an open-access resource for both academic and policy communities.
Participation is free and open to all, including academics, legal professionals, postgraduate researchers, and anyone with an interest in corporate governance. All refreshments and dinner are provided by NASAMER. The event will take place on 14 November 2025 at Koç University’s ANAMED Building in Beyoğlu, Istanbul.
