This two-part conference brings together leading scholars from across Europe, North America, and beyond to explore the evolving landscape of financial and sustainability disclosure regulation. Organised by the Fordham Corporate Law Center and the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence for the Comparative Study of European Union Business Law at Fordham, and co-funded by the European Union, the event marks the publication of Financial and Sustainability Disclosure Regulation (Oxford University Press, forthcoming), edited by Giovanni Strampelli, Anne Lafarre, and Martin Gelter.
Each presentation at the conference features the authors of a chapter from the volume, offering a unique opportunity to engage directly with the contributors and their research.
The in-person sessions on 6–7 November 2026 at Fordham Law School, New York will cover a broad range of topics at the intersection of corporate law, accounting, and sustainability reporting. Over two days, chapter authors will present on the harmonisation of EU financial reporting, the role of periodic and ad-hoc disclosure, civil liability for disclosure violations, the regulation of cross-listings and foreign issuers, disclosure frameworks for private companies and startups, and forward-looking reporting. The second day will turn to sustainability, with chapter authors addressing SEC climate disclosure rules, the impact of EU sustainability reporting on US companies, directors' duties in the ESG era, greenwashing, sustainability assurance, and private law liability for non-financial reporting.
A further online session will take place on 13 November 2026 via Zoom (times in Central European Time), with additional chapter authors presenting on topics including the dual role of EFRAG, sustainability reporting and directors' duties, supply chain disclosure under the CSRD and CSDDD, climate transition plans, and the connectivity between financial and sustainability disclosure frameworks. See here for further information.
