Biography

Gaia Balp is an Associate Professor of Business Law at Bocconi University Milan. Her scholarship mainly focuses on corporate law and securities regulation with a comparative perspective and comprizes articles published in EU and US law journals. She has also authored a book on Proxy Advisors. Representative topics include collective institutional investor engagements, activist intervention at controlled compoanies, retail investor engagement, high-frequency trading in equity markets, and early warning tools in preventive restructuring frameworks. Professor Balp is a member of the Faculty of the Ph.D. in Legal Studies at Bocconi University. She has been a visiting scholar at the Institut für ausländisches und internationales Privat- und Wirtschaftsrecht at Universität Heidelberg, the Max-Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance in Munich, the Max-Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, and the Commercial Law Centre at Harris Manchester College, University of Oxford.
