ECGI is now accepting research membership applications and nominations

Deadline 23 October 2026 (at midnight CEST)

(Note: Deadline for nominations: 12 October 2026)

ECGI is seeking to appoint leading research scholars as Research Members of the institute. ECGI operates as a global network and as such applications are welcome from all locations and no physical presence is required at the Institute's administrative office in Brussels. Applications are processed by a specifically appointed Research Member Committee every two years. It is possible for existing research members to nominate multiple candidates using the same link. It is not necessary to be nominated in order to apply.

Successful applicants will have an established research and publication track record in corporate governance along with a willingness to contribute to ECGI and its activities, and to engage with its other members.

About ECGI Research Members

  • Research Members play a special role in the governance of ECGI. They are the guardians of its scientific independence and integrity. For example, a majority of ECGI's board members must be Research Members and amendments to the Articles of Association must be approved by Research Members with a two-thirds majority.

  • Research Members are eligible to publish their corporate governance research in the ECGI Working Paper Series which contributes to the credibility and visibility of the work. Papers are promoted through the ECGI website, social media channels and Working Paper alerts. Papers included in the series are eligible for one of two prizes each year which is determined by the editorial boards.

  • Research Members enjoy all the rights of membership of the association including attending and voting at the Annual General Meeting, participation at certain ECGI events, and inclusion in ECGI communications. Research Membership fee is €150 (excluding VAT) annually. This fee is waived for individuals affiliated with ECGI University Members (ECGI Academic Institutional Members).

  • ECGI expects excellence from all of its members while recognising that there is no single template for meeting this bar. We aim to foster an inclusive environment that promotes diverse perspectives and particularly encourage scholars from places or with backgrounds that may be underrepresented in our current membership to consider applying.
