Dr Joon Hyug Chung

Dr. Joon Hyug Chung is an Associate Professor at Seoul National University (SNU) School of Law, specializing in corporate and financial law. He regularly advises the Korean government and has led several high-profile government projects on mandatory takeover bids, sustainability disclosure, insider trading, corporate group transactions, and public M&A regulation. He was a key advisor on Korea's landmark 2025 amendment to the Commercial Act.

He currently serves as a non-standing Commissioner of the Securities and Futures Commission, which oversees Korea's capital markets and reviews related laws and regulations. He also holds various advisory positions at Korean government agencies, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Justice, the Financial Services Commission, and the Korea Fair Trade Commission. He is regarded as one of Korea's leading experts in corporate governance and capital markets.

Before entering academia, Dr. Chung was a partner at a leading Korean law firm, where he advised on high-profile cross-border and private equity transactions. He was recognized as one of Korea's top M&A lawyers by Chambers Global, Legal 500, and IFLR, and was honored as "Lawyer of the Year" by Legal Times and one of Asian Legal Business's "40 Under 40."
