Biography

Professor Zechner has been Professor of Finance at the Department for Business Studies of the University of Vienna since 1993. He holds a Doctorate in Social and Economic Sciences from the University of Graz, Austria.


He was Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of British Columbia, Canada, from 1985-1990; from 1990-1993 Tenured Associate Professor of Finance at the University of British Columbia. 1991-1992 Visiting Scholar at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford, USA.


He is a Research Fellow of the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR); President of the European Finance Association in 1998; President of the German Finance Association in 2002.


Extensive international consulting experience with governmental agencies, banks, telecom regulators and industrial corporations primarily in the area of financial regulation, risk management and cost of capital determination.
