Biography

Matthew Serfling is an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Tennessee. He received his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Arizona and undergraduate degree in Finance with a minor in Mathematics from North Dakota State University. His research primarily focuses on understanding how corporate decisions interact with labor markets and other non-financial stakeholders, but he is also interested in topics related to corporate governance and understanding how managers shape the information environment of their firms.

His research has been published in leading finance and accounting journals, including the Journal of Finance, the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Management Science, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, and the Journal of Accounting Research.
