Dr Jordi Gual

Chairman at "La Caixa". He is also Professor of Economics at IESE Business School (Barcelona) and Research Fellow of the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR, London).

He is currently a member of the International Advisory Council of “la Caixa”, the Oxera Economics Council and the Group of Experts in Banking issues of the European Comission.

PhD in economics from the University of California at Berkeley, he has been Visiting Professor at this university, the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics. For several years he was Head of the Economics Department and the Academic Director of the “Public-Private Sector Research Center” at IESE Business School.

Some of his most recent books are Integration of European Banking: The Way Forward, (co-author) CEPR, London (2005) and Building a Dynamic Europe: The Key Policy Debates, Cambridge University Press, (2004).
