Biography

Urs Peyer is an Associate Professor of Finance at INSEAD. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina and a lic.rer.pol. from the University of Berne, Switzerland. Urs Peyer's research interests include empirical corporate finance, corporate governance, executive compensation, internal capital market and firm diversification and share repurchases. Recent publications include: "Leverage and internal capital markets: Evidence from leveraged recapitalizations" and "The many facets of privately negotiated stock repurchases" in the Journal of Financial Economics, and "Board seat accumulation by executives: a shareholders perspective" in the Journal of Finance. His dissertation "Internal and external capital markets" won the 2001 Trefftz Award for best Ph.D. student paper at the Western Finance Association Meetings. Urs Peyer has also been an instructor at Kenan-Flagler Business School. He has worked in the portfolio management team for Credit Suisse and was a jet pilot in the Swiss Airforce.
