Prof. Paolo Saguato

Paolo Saguato is Professor of Law and Founder and Director of the Program on Financial Markets at Antonin Scalia Law School, George Mason University. He teaches and writes in the areas of financial regulation, business associations, securities and derivatives regulation, and international finance. His research focuses on U.S., EU, and international financial regulation, with particular emphasis on financial market infrastructures, market structure, and financial innovation.

Professor Saguato's scholarship has appeared in leading journals and edited volumes and has been cited by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. He is the co-editor of Financial Market Infrastructures: Law and Regulation and the co-author of Business Associations: A Modern Approach.

Professor Saguato serves on the Consultative Working Group of the European Securities and Markets Authority's Central Counterparty Policy Committee and on the CCP Risk and Governance Subcommittee of the CFTC's Market Risk Advisory Committee. He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, and Ph.D. from the University of Genoa, and his LL.M. from Yale Law School, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar and where he served as a senior editor of the Yale Journal on Regulation.
