Research Interests

My longstanding research interests straddle the broad domains of regulatory and governance challenges raised by new and emerging technologies, with particular focus on privacy and data protection and related ethical/moral challenges. In addition to a monograph on Online Child Safety (2012), more recent research and publications concentrates on governance challenges relating to fitness wearables, children in platform society and the interaction between data protection and standards in smart cities. As a result of the interdisciplinary nature of the research, I also engage with the activities undertaken by the University of Liverpool's Cybersecurity Institute
