Blended Finance - Scaling Sustainable Investing in Emerging and Developing Economies

In the sixteenth public lecture of this series, Professor Caroline Flammer, ​​A. Barton Hepburn Professor of Economics, Columbia University and ECGI Research member will deliver this lecture titled, "Blended Finance - Scaling Sustainable Investing in Emerging and Developing Economies"

Mobilising private capital at scale is critical to financing sustainable development, particularly in emerging and developing economies (EMDEs), where it is needed most. This lecture explores the barriers and opportunities to scaling sustainable investment, including the role of risk perceptions and market frictions. It then looks at how blended finance can be designed to deploy catalytic capital more effectively and crowd in private investment.

This lecture will be moderated by Sona Shahdadpuri, Blended Finance Programmes, Asia, Standard Chartered Bank.

This is a hybrid lecture that will be held both in-person and over Zoom.
