Biography

Virginijus Bitė is a professor and director of the Institute of Private Law, at Law School of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU). Has been engaged in academic activities for over 20 years. He is a member of European Company Case Law (ECCL), The Steward Ownership Network (StONe), The Nordic Company Law Network (NCLN) and The Nordic Corporate Governance Network (NCGN). He is a member of the Supervisory Committee of the Civil Code of the Republic of Lithuania, and the Committee on Civil Law and Civil Procedure at the Lithuanian Bar Association. He conducts research on commercial/company law, especially on close (private) companies, duties/liability of directors, rights of shareholders, digitalisation of company law. He is the author or co-author of more than 40 publications, including WoS/Scopus journals. He had research internships at the universities of Cambridge, Tartu, Oslo, Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, Swiss Institute of Comparative Law.
Moreover, V. Bitė is a legal practitioner since 2004 and attorney at law since 2008, as well as a Member of the Committee on Civil Law and Civil Procedure at Lithuanian Bar Association.
