Biography

Professor Chiu is Professor of Corporate Law and Financial Regulation at the Faculty of Laws, University College London. She previously taught at the School of Law, King’s College London and the University of Leicester. She was a legislative draftsman and State Counsel at the Attorney-General’s Chambers in Singapore prior to joining academia. She has published on directors’ duties, shareholder stewardship and corporate governance, as well as regulatory theories and governance in the financial sector. Her key monographs are The Foundations and Anatomy of Shareholder Activism (Hart Publishing 2010), The Foundations and Future of Financial Regulation (Routledge, 2014, co-authored with Mads Andenas) and The Legal Framework for Internal Control in Banks and Financial Institutions (Hart Publishing 2015). She is Executive editor of the European Business Law Review and co-series editor of the Palgrave Macmillan Corporate and Financial Law Series. Iris is also co-Director of the UCL Centre for Ethics and Law.
