Biography

Simon Deakin is Professor of Law and Director, Centre for Business Research. Previously Professor Deakin was the Robert Monks Professor of Corporate Governance in the Judge Institute of Management, University of Cambridge.


His undergraduate education consisted of a degree in Law with First Class Honours from the University of Cambridge, following which he took a Ph.D. in Law at Cambridge. His doctoral dissertation was awarded the Yorke Prize for legal writing.


Prior to taking up his current position he taught in the Faculty of Law at Cambridge for eleven years, specializing in employment law, company law and private law. He has also taught in the Universities of Chicago, London, Nantes and Melbourne. In addition to holding the Robert Monks Chair of Corporate Governance, he is a Fellow of Peterhouse and Yorke Professorial Research Fellow in the Faculty of Law at Cambridge.
